Exit 18
Exit 18 began as a jam session between Alex (guitar/vocals) and Will (bass/vocals). Having just met, they decided to visit a local battle of the bands on a whim, bringing their instruments... just in case. The night ended with the duo sweating under the hot lights of an auditorium playing songs they had just learned together that afternoon, without a drummer. It wasn't their best gig to date, but it fueled the fire to form a band. Later that year, they hired Nicky (vocals) to sing for them and began recording on an old eight-track Will had in his basement. The next year, they snatched up drummer Nathan and began playing gigs as Exit 18. The first gig went... actually surprisingly well considering the venue didn't know we were coming or who we were and we ended up breaking two special adapters when our amps fell over mid-song. But after that, we got better and better, becoming a regular band at a local pool and developing a pretty good fan base at our high school. The band's rockiest moments were when Alex had to leave for critical personal reasons. While he was in and out of the band for a couple years, we teetered on the edge of collapse. Working in the studio really helped us, as we didn't have to have a guitarist all the time in the studio. We spend most of our time while Alex was away in the studio recording the songs on Sober in Amsterdam. With Alex's return and the addition of Lincoln (keyboards/vocals) and Will K (guitar) in our senior year of high school, we began gigging once more and finalizing the album. We had a triumphant reunion appearance at MCTFest, a fundraiser for music education. We also headlined WoodsonStock, another music charity event, this time at our high school. This album is the culmination of four years of playing, writing, and bonding over music. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we did creating it. For more Exit 18 stuff, check out:
